  1. Sewing machine


  2. Fabric:
    1 or more light-weight 100% cotton T-shirts, like Hanes or Fruit of the Loom, tea-dyed to a desired skin tone.
    These brands are a good weight to work with.
    muslin or another fabric for practice
    assorted fabrics in marching and contrasting colors
    patterns and textures for costumes
    Cotton gauze or scrim, also tea dyed (shop for cotton scrim online using Google) about a half yard is adequate.


  3. Polyester Fiberfil:
    (2) large bags Fairfield brand, but not the Super Fluff; it is too slippery. Fairfield Brand Fiber-fil will assure a better result with the techniques being taught than another brand.


  4. Thread:
    Ecru hand quilting and regular machine thread Coats and Clark is the strongest quilting hand thread and preferable.
    Other colors to match the costume fabrics and T-shirt


  5. Waxed Linen Cord:
    any color


  6. Pencils:
    a #2 lead pencil
    PrismaColor pencils in black, white, burnt umber, burnt sienna, sepia, beige, and light peach


  7. Pins and Needles:
    #7 long darners (John James) - available from instructor
    sewing pins and needles
    a large and long needle with a large eye for the waxed linen cord. (upholstery needles work well)


  8. Buttons with 2 holes:
    4 @ approx ¾ in
    8 @ approx ½ in


  9. Scissors (Both for paper and fabric)


  10. Glue and stiffeners:
    Alene's Tacky Glue and/or Crafter's Pick - The Ultimate
    Alene's Stiffening and Draping Fluid or Crafter's Pick Fabric Stiffener (avoid Stiffy)


  11. Acrylic Paints and brushes:
    small and wide brushes
    eye colors and white
    a container for water


  12. Paper Clay or LaDoll air dry clay (optional): available at Michael's or online - do a Google search
    a small Ziploc plastic bag


  13. Trims:
    Laces, ribbon, beads, decorative buttons, feathers, leather scraps.
    Cords and braids, etc,
    found objects, anything that you would like to use on a doll that is interesting


  14. Hair:
    fibers like flax, mohair, yarn, threads etc, available where one would buy fibers for spinning.


  15. Cardboard for patterns and templates. Save cereal boxes!
** Remember: We will not have a place to shop for some of these items so 'Come Prepared'**
