The Guild's principle goals are to:
- Encourage and foster fibre art learning initiatives.
- Provide a structure for the purpose of advanced study of all aspects of textile arts.
- Promote and raise awareness of fabric art among the general public.
- Advance excellence in original, high quality art and design
Starting with a membership of just eleven, the Guild has grown in number and scope to a total membership of over 200 fibre artists with wide-ranging interests and experience from quilting and beading to surface design and doll making.
The Guild co-ordinates an active workshop programme delivered by knowledgeable tutors from home and abroad. Public under-standing and appreciation of fibre art is promoted through invited lectures and semi-annual Guild exhibitions.
