TEXTILE ART PROJECT “Turning The Tide” When: Tuesday, May 4, from 12 noon to 9 pm Wednesday, May 5, from 9 am to 9 pm Thursday, May 6 from 9 am to 6 pm Where: Richmond Cultural Centre at 180 - 7700 Minoru Gate (not far from the Richmond Centre Shopping Mall “Turning the Tide” is the second exhibition organized by the North Island Quilters for Community Awareness to raise funds in support of African grandmothers struggling to raise their grandchildren orphaned by AIDS. Their first exhibition, in 2008, was titled “Seeds Of Hope”. This group of fabric artists has, for 26 years, donated quilts to charitable organizations for fundraising. The South Fraser and Richmond Gogos are co-hosting this event, which has been organised by the Glacier Grannies of Comox B.C. Admission is by donation, with proceeds going to the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign.
