Starting with
a membership of just eleven, the Guild has grown in number and scope
to a total membership of over 200 fibre artists with wide-ranging
interests and experience from quilting and beading to surface design
and doll making.
The Guild co-ordinates an active workshop programme delivered by
knowledgeable tutors from home and abroad. Public under-standing
and appreciation of fibre art is promoted through invited lectures
and semi-annual Guild exhibitions.

An innovation
in 1975 was the formation of special interest groups (SIG). These
groups meet in members' homes, usually once a month, to discuss
new fibre art techniques, share ideas and most importantly to delight
in a common interest.

The
Vancouver Guild of Fibre Arts is affiliated with local, provincial,
national and international arts and crafts organizations, thus enabling
members to network and keep updated in current trends, techniques
and products in the world of fabric and fibre art.
